High Adventure

If your unit is interested in attending one of the Boy Scouts of America High Adventure Bases, Northern Tier, Florida Sea Base, or Philmont Scout Ranch, in 2009 it is time to start planning…

Northern Tier

From June to September, Northern Tier offers Scouts and Venturers the best in wilderness canoeing treks. When they say “Delivering Wilderness Adventures That Last A Lifetime,” they mean it.

The Northern Tier offers many adventures, each geared to the goals and desires of your group. Come to the Northern Tier for an unforgettable experience in the world famous Northwoods "Canoe Country".

Reservations for 2009 will begin in April 1, 2008.

Florida Sea Base

The Florida National High Adventure Sea Base is owned and operated by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America to offer unique educational aquatic programs to our members. Located in Islamorada, the heart of the Florida Keys, the near shore reefs offer unparalleled opportunities for long term and short term programs year round.

Reservations for the 2009 Season can be made online until February 15, 2009 and some Spring 2008 opportunities still exist. Click here to make a 2008/2009 reservation.

Philmont Scout Ranch

Philmont Scout Ranch—the Boy Scouts of America's premier high-adventure base—challenges Scouts and Venturers with more than 200 square miles of rugged New Mexico wilderness. Backpacking treks, horseback cavalcades, and training and service programs offer young people many ways to experience this legendary country.

There are two ways to go to Philmont in 2009.
1. Apply directly to Philmont (Nov 2008)
2. Apply for a spot on the Council Contingent (April 2008)

If you go directly to Philmont you can apply for multiple crews; through the Council you are limited to 1 crew.

You unit cannot attend Philmont in two consecutive years through either method.

To sign up for the lottery to take your unit directly to Philmont online registration is Oct 22-Nov 25. For details go to http://www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/2009-registration.pdf.

You will know by January if you have been selected and can sign up for Council lottery in the spring if unsuccessful.
